The answer is “Do the best you can each day.”
Of course, faith, family, and friends are at the top of the list. I have led a blessed life, and I thank God every day I wake up. Enough said.
I spent some years teaching at the college level. Numerous marketing professionals are working today, and clients have improved their businesses due to our collaborations. I am proud of that.
My resume includes leading marketing teams at big agencies and corporations, with enough awards and recognitions to claim a successful career path. One memorable award was receiving McDonald’s first “Marketing Achievement Award” in 1976 for the “Gilette Free Good News razor” promotion. Over twenty-three million free razors were distributed nationally in several weeks. Vast numbers of McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes were sold thanks to a McDonald’s/New England Patriots promotion that kick-started funds for the then-new Boston Ronald McDonald House. There are too many successes to list here.
I am also proud to say that after 25 years and counting as a one-person business, I am still working and serving clients and non-profitable causes. And I stay active in my church and my community.
A marketing lesson from all of this? Never stop learning. Not a day goes by that you cannot improve on what you do. Keep God on your team and keep on trucking!
